All black, this beaver tail style paddle showcases vibrant nighttime skies  and picturesque water scenes.  Not shown is the nighttime sky travels up the entire paddle to the grip making it one of the most vibrant paddles I have yet to paint.

Paddle is currently unfinished, however when the spring arrives I plan to put on a protective coat of urethane to make it waterproof and useable in the water.

On the second side, black-capped chickadees, known for their striking black caps and cheerful calls set to a more subtle background.

This locally sourced paddle from Ontario is made out of Aspen making it light weight and a dream to paint on.

The paddle is painted on both sides.  

Side 1 - a daytime fiery scene juxtaposed between dark trees and vibrant bushes and little waterfall.  

Side 2 - a nighttime version with colourful clouds among the stars and a peaceful pond in the foreground.

The paddle is 57" in length and has been finished with linseed oil and varnish making it water usable. Would look great hanging on a cottage or rustic home wall or while out for an evening canoe on the lake.

When I was a kid looking up at the sky at night, it was awe inspiring and put things into perspective. This painting captures the beauty of the night sky surrounded by silhouettes of tall trees. Gordon Lake is a take on my experience in discovering this small lake in the Spanish Sable area of Ontario, Canada. Hidden at a higher elevation than most other lakes around the area, it's a small fishing lake that is surrounded by evergreens and bushes where waterfowl and aquatic life go about their business without much interference from people.  The birch tree in the painting is my ode to Birch Lake a nearby lake. While I haven't had the opportunity to fish Gordon lake yet, I looks like a place that likely has a few good trout.

Mountain Thaw is all about that time in the early spring when the snow starts to melt from the mountains bringing in the spring freshet. Waterfalls become more powerful, water rises and rushes to bring new moisture to surrounding land to start the growing season.
